Principal’s Message
Dear Families,
Celebration of Learning
A wonderful afternoon last Wednesday for our Celebration of Learning! A large number of family members attended to hear from students about their learning and to join in learning challenges and games. We are all proud of the growth students have made in their learning throughout the year. We have 4 weeks left to learn more before a holiday.

Outdoor Learning Area
We could not be more thrilled and excited that our Outdoor Learning Area Project is complete and students are loving exploring the new space. This week we have had LiL, pre-Kinder and K-6 classes enjoying time in the area.

Oval repairs
Following a wonderful soccer season, our oval has been in need of repairs near the goal areas. A huge thank you to Kale Thompson for generously donating his time to rotary hoe the areas and spread soil and seed. Also thank you to Darren Sturgess for organising this work to happen. We hope for the patchy areas to be green again for the start of next year’s soccer season.

Lollies at School
We have noticed lately that many children re bringing large amounts of lollies, including chewing gum and whizz fizz, to school, and in some instances sharing these foods with other children. Please note that chewing gum is not permitted at school for any reason, and we ask families to please not send lollies to school. Water is the only drink permitted in water bottles. We understand occasional treats in lunch boxes, however the consumption of lollies at school is not conducive to focussed learning and settled behaviour. We are a ‘Move Well, Eat Well’ school and promote healthy choices. Below is the MWEW description of ‘sometimes’ foods.
What are 'sometimes' foods and drinks?
- These foods should only be offered sometimes and in small amounts.
- These choices are higher in sugar, salt and saturated fat and are not needed for good health.
- ‘Sometimes’ foods include chocolate, lollies, biscuits, cakes, fried food, pastries and ice-cream.
- ‘Sometimes’ drinks include fruit drinks, soft drinks, cordial, sports drinks, energy
drinks and flavoured water.

Class News
Prep/1
On Tuesday 7th November Prep One went on an excursion to Fullers book shop and the Hobart Rivulet. The bus dropped us off at South Hobart where we walked along the Rivulet track and into Fullers book shop. On the walk we could hear the sound of the trickling water of the rivulet and we saw a native hen and her chicks. At Fullers we were met by Sophie who read us some stories. Then Sophie told us that we could choose a book up to the value of $20 to take home. We spent some time carefully deciding which book to choose. After that we each had a delicious hot chocolate. We walked back to the beginning of the rivulet track where we had recess and then continued our trek up the track to the bus.
